ALL ABOARD! Rory, Jacob and Nathan all loved the train ride. Dylan and Logon, however, fell asleep as soon as we took off. Poor Dylan still doesn't even know that we rode a train.

Mother's Day Trip

For Mother's day, I wanted to visit Spring Valley Nature Center. Of course, the weather didn't cooperate so we went this weekend instead. Spring Valley is a working farm down in Shaumburg, IL. After visiting the animals, we ended up taking what would ahve been a fifteen minute walk, through the forest preserves. Of course, we had to stop at nearly every bug along the way, so it ended up being more of a 45 minute walk. Here is Randy helping the boys up a log.

Butterflies!!!

Our big project for the month of May was our butterfly habitat. The boys loved watching their butterflies go from tiny, tiny caterpillars to really big caterpillars. Even though we read a ton of books about it, they really didn't understand the chrysalis part until after the butterflies emerged, 6 all together. The boys were so excited when they finally started to emerge! I wish I would have let them mate so we could watch the whole process again, but I didn't have the heart to let them live their whole (3 week) life in a cage....so we let them go. And they didn't go....it took a couple of days to get them to leave their home. It's great, now every time the boys see a butterfly, they think it is the one that we raised. Very cute.

The boys also found some robin's nests (you can see them in this pic) in our backyard. It is so incredible to look at what a tiny bird created. Dylan has to show them to all of his friends and reminds them to "be very careful, the bird worked very hard on this." Too cute.

Busy Weekend

Our dear friend Andrea invited me to preshop at her twins club sale and this was the big hit! Dylan and Nathan played with it ALL day. Andrea was blessed with her 6th child, a baby girl, this week, we are so happy for her!!! By the way, her oldest is Dylan's age....makes me tired just thinking about it.

We did manage to make it to the park, which is good because snow is on its way, again. Good grief...it's April already, enough snow!

The boys got to go bowling today with some of our friends. Everyone did AMAZING! The boys love knocking down the pins and is great that they have no idea of scoring, especially since Dylan is turning out to be very competitive at everything. So until he figures out that someone wins, bowling will hopefully remain fun.

When we got home, we attempted to play outside since the weather is a whopping 48 degrees. That lasted all of 10 minutes...Dylan had a meltdown, Nathan got his finger caught in the door, Logan was cold.....it just went downhill fast. So we all ended up back inside to have a snack, hopefully we can try again tomorrow. I am sure we will have better luck if it isn't nap time!
